A partnership with CABI was established to provide training manuals on vegetable and seed production. These manuals have been used for training farmers during community outreach programs run by the Department of Agriculture and Biological sciences UCU.
Seed for the sites was provided by the PAEPARD project through the AVRDC seed multiplication that was done at the Skills development center, Ntawo.
Farmer participatory trials have been established in the districts of Mbale, Jinja and Wakiso with three different farmer groups constituting 100 farmers. The objectives of these demonstration sites are to understand the farmers’ selection criteria for Solanum aethiopicum (Gilo and Shum groups) and identify their most preferred accessions
